Illustrations of some species being put at an advantage/disadvantage by climate change, an intriguing commission by Technologist, a European magazine of science. Sandro Bacco, the art director, required a well placed – realistic illustrations to meet his layout of 3 pages article describing how climate change affected non-human species, both animals and plants. The varied subjects challenged me to experiment with unusual watercolours techniques to visualise best their distinctive features, from a slick and glossy salamander, a furry Alpine Ibex to an endangered lady’s slipper orchids.
Technologist is a European magazine of science, published by Large Network, Geneva-based media agency, four times a year, in three languages (English, French, and German). The illustrations were published in an article entitled “The Winners and Losers of Biodiversity” by journalist Luc Henry in the 06 edition.
